The licence was given to Piranavan Arulchelvam at a sub-committee meeting of Worthing Borough Council on Thursday evening.
Mr Arulchelvam runs the Best One convenience store on South Farm Road and is in the process of taking over the post office on Lyndhurst Road.

The licence was granted after concessions were agreed with Sussex Police, which requested that sprits be stored behind the counter, CCTV cameras be installed and staff receive training on challenging those who look under-25 to show ID when purchasing alcohol.
Under new rules set out by Post Office headquarters, regional branches must be run with a convenience store.
Mr Arulchelvam said he was happy the licence was granted and added that he was there to ‘serve the community’.

A letter against the licence was also sent by a resident who lived in the flat above the post office.
