Power station is attraction


Station director Martin Pearson said the centre has proved “extremely popular with people of all ages”.
He said: “The response we have had from our visitors has been very positive and I am delighted that so many people have decided to come here to find out about how we generate electricity.

Hide Ad“Many schools, colleges and local groups have visited the centre over the last 24 months and we’re taking many repeat bookings from teachers.”
The power station also encourages young people to take up science, technology, Engineering and maths subjects both by visiting schools and holding events on site to engage students and highlight the many career possibilities should they choose to study these subjects further.
June Ashton, visitor centre coordinator, added: “The first two years have really shown the value of the visitor centre to the local community.”
