Project gives Bognor Regis youngsters a voice

The nine Year 7 Regis School pupils took part in a showcase which showed off their conversational skills and marked the end of a year-long project to make them better public speakers and listeners.

One of them, Emily Williams, 12, said: “It has been really fun. I have improved my confidence and feel more comfortable speaking in front of people now. I enjoyed the games most, we played things like hula hula and charades. I still don’t really like speaking in front of people I don’t know but when I have to do it I am definitely more confident.”

The pupils were led by five final year trainee teachers from the University of Chichester: Melissa Jeffery, Heather Fuller, Angela Gordon, Lauren Imms and Rachael Shelton.

Melissa said: “It has been a great project to get involved with. We have seen the pupils become more confident.”
