£110,000 town hall work

A scheme to improve access for the disabled to the upper floors of Lewes Town Hall - including the council chamber - is proceeding well, Lewes Town Council members were told.

The first phase, involving a lift to the first floor lecture room, was already finished to a high standard, the meeting heard.

Cllr Michael Chartier said: 'People with disabilities have the right to dignity. A scheme like this costs a lot but it opens a wide range of opportunities.
