Pupils African Dream

THE PUPILS of Freshbrook County First School were out of Lancing and into Africa last week for a special series of events.

Headteacher Gill Leonard said pupils in the primary school took part in the African week and explained: "We had invited Batafon Arts, they are two chaps from west Africa. They brought in about 15 drums and the children played them and built up a rhythm.

"We had an artist in residence, Chris Cately, and she did a batik using the children's drawings that was fabulous.

"The children drew African patterns and animals which they ironed on to their T-shirts and all the literacy that week was to do with African poetry."
