Pupils explore famous warship and dockyard


The children, staff and parents spent time exploring HMS Victory where they dressed up in naval clothes worn during Admiral Lord Nelson’s time.
They learned how to tie seaman’s knots, send messages using naval flags and saw the spot where Nelson died.

Hide AdThey also experienced loading a cannon but , fortunately, were not able to fire it!
Jasmine, a pupil in Year 3, said: “I loved learning all the facts about HMS Victory – it was so interesting.”
Year 3 teacher, Deborah McMahon, commented: “It is such a rewarding experience watching the children discover new things especially in such an historical environment. All they have learnt will help them progress through their topic”.
