Pupils join world record attempt marathon runner

Ben Smith, 33, set off on his epic journey on September 1 last year and won’t finish until October 5 this year, back in his native Bristol.

Pupils at Storrington First School were delighted to run alongside Ben.

The children were invited to participate and ran laps around the school field with the younger pupils supporting them with specially made flags and banners.

Said pupil Zac: “He was amazing because he was running superfast!”

Harry, five agreed: “I thought he was really great and he’s raising a lot of money.”

Ben’s world record attempt is aimed at raising funds for the charities Kidscape and Stonewall that help support children who have been bullied.

The long distance runner was bullied at school but decided to help others suffering the same fate.

Ben took part in the London Marathon on Sunday and is currently running marathons across the South-East of the country before heading to Yorkshire and the North-East next month.
