Pupils sign and sing for world record

Two Horsham schools are now record breakers after they contributed to the successful world record attempt for most people performing sign language simultaneously in different locations.

Jolesfield Church of England Primary School, Littleworth Lane, and Leechpool Primary School, Leechpool Lane, raised more than £100 for SignHealth - the charity that organised the attempt.

Across Great Britain, 116,980 pupils and teachers participated in the signing, with Guinness World Records confirming last week that the February event had broken the previous record.

SignHealth Chief Executive Steve Powell said: “sign2sing is our annual record breaking attempt for the most people signing and singing a song at the same time.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have broken the world record for the third year running.”

sign2sing is a fundraiser for SignHealth through a suggested £1 donation from everyone taking part.

The money will be used to continue the charity’s work helping to improve the mental and physical health and well-being of deaf people, including deaf children.
