The Respect standard aims to have central government, local agencies and communities working together to create places where people have more respect for one another.

Other speakers included Sergeant Chris Cox and Peter Latham, who talked about the work of the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership in Adur.

Housing committee chairman, Julie Searle said: "Many people today feel one of the problems facing society is the lack of respect certain individuals have for their neighbours and their community.

"We already do a lot of work to address these concerns and tackle anti social behaviour. And we will continue to work with our partners to achieve even more."
