Racist gang attack cyclist

Police say the attack, which happened in South Street, outside the Co-op store on April 26, would have been seen by lots of drivers who were waiting to cross the railway line.

Jill Pedersen, spokeswoman for Worthing police, said: "A group of three males were outside the Co-op.

"One shouted racist abuse and followed the victim on his bike. A short while later a confrontation took place back in South Street outside the Co-Op store at about 5.30pm where two white males punched the victim several times before walking off down a nearby alleyway.

"There was heavy traffic due to the barriers for the train line being down. This assault would have been see by numerous people."

Police have described the attacker as white, aged 22, slim with a tattoo on his neck. He was wearing black T-shirt and blue bottoms.
