Rae's mum gives a moving tribute

Speaking after Dellwyn James' conviction for murder, Rae Torbet's mother, Zoe Marfleet, said: "Today is not a today to celebrate. I have lost a wonderful, bright, intelligent and young daughter.

"She can never be replaced and nothing that happens in a court room can ever change that.

"Rae's senseless death is so very hard to come to terms with.

"So much heartache has been caused since she met this brutal killer. If he had loved my precious and wonderful daughter, he would not have done anything like this.

"The last week has been extremely difficult, much worse than the five months that have passed since our Rae of sunshine was viciously and brutally taken from us.

"Listening to the evidence about that fateful day in March has been the hardest thing I have had to endure. Words fail to explain why he did such a terrible act.

"Rae was a wonderful person. I think about her every single day but today is for her. We have got the justice we needed but I am permanently left with the void of a daughter and a dear friend.

"Rae was always happy and even on the darkest of days, I am able to remember her warm and loving smile.

"I would not have been able to get through the last few months had it not been for the love and support I have received from my family, my husband Tony and my son Lee.

"I am also grateful to Estelle for her great support and Jan Green; she has been a marvellous support.

"But we all want to thank our friends and the friends of Rae.

"You have all be a great comfort even on our bleakest of days.

"To the investigation team and in particular our family liaison officers, Gary and Sophie: you have all been fantastic and your tireless efforts have enabled today's outcome.

"To the jury, I thank you for making the right decision and for enduring the graphic details in the court room."
