Raiders' Woolies haul could be worth £15,000

CROOKS ransacked the entertainment section at Woolworths in Newhaven High Street, stealing CDs, DVDs, computer games and mobile phones.

It is believed the haul could be worth up to 15,000.

Some neighbours recall hearing a burglar alarm sound at around midnight, but it was not reported .

The raid was discovered by a cleaner on Thursday morning last week.

Police would only confirm that 'several hundred' items had been taken. Sgt Dave Kemp, from Newhaven Police Station, appealed to people who saw anyone behaving suspiciously in the area to come forward.

Due to the size of the haul, he said it was likely the crooks made their getaway in a vehicle after fleeing through the rear fire door which backs on to North Way.
