Rain fails to deter Bognor's beach helpers

The helpers braved the wet weather to scour the foreshore in front of the town's yacht club.

Most of the rubbish collected was small plastic pieces such as bottle tops and fishing ropes.

Organiser Emma Brenton said: "We found three old lobster pots, a set of keys, one beautiful tree, one dead bird sadly covered in oil, glow sticks and an empty but unbroken bottle of champagne among the collection."

The next organised clean of the beach will take part during Beachwatch 2008 on September 20.
