Rain leaves prom event a washout
The incessant downpour meant the occasion became the first since the evening entertainment began in 2000 to be scrapped.
The decision to call it off was made by Connie Reid, who arranged the event on behalf of Felpham Parish Council.

Hide Ad"The rain was really coming down hard and we just couldn't cope with it," she said. "But we will be back again next year in some form or other."
She was surprised by the number of people who still went along in spite of the bad weather. She put the biggest crowd at any one time at 100.
She also thanked the performers who were undaunted by the conditions. Children's entertainer Pip Fredericks turned up with pergodas to ensure his story-telling could take place.
The one-woman steel band was moved indoors to the sailing club to perform while the Spirit FM roadshow continued its display.
