Rain-soaked month of contrasting weather

More rain fell in Bognor Regis last month than in any November for four years.

The town was drenched by 86.2mm compared to the seasonal average of 74.49mm.

The wettest day was the 18th when almost an inch '“ 0.91ins/23.2mm '“ of rain drenched residents. This was the start of a sopping wet spell of just four days which contained two-thirds of the month's rainfall.

But the wet conditions was just one element of a month which contained just about every type of weather.

Warm days, night frosts, sunshine and two days of strong winds made it a time of contrasts.

The warmest day was the 1st when the thermometer reached 18.8C/64F and the coldest was the 24th when -4C/24.8F was recorded at Bognor Regis Town Council's weather station in Waterloo Square.

The average maximum temperature was 11.9C, comfortably above the 10.6C seasonal average. For the mean minimum temperature, the month's reading was 5.8C to also make it above the expected 5.4C.
