Raise your cupsfor a good cause

Frankie G’s Cafe at Rope Walk, in Rye, will be serving free coffee and tea from 9.30am - noon, and asking for donations, and local groups will be making cakes to sell.

The Nationwide Building Society, in Rye High Street, will have coffee and cakes on offer from 9.30am - 4.30pm.

The Mariners, at 15 Rye High Street, will be holding their coffee morning on Saturday from 10.30am - 3pm, along with a big tombola.

Pett Village Hall is also supporting the cause with a coffee morning today (Friday) from 9.30am - noon.

Other coffee mornings taking place today (Friday) are at the Ferry Road Clinic, in Rye, organised by the patient participation group, and at Rye Harbour Village Hall.

The charity says that more than 1,500 coffee morning events are expected to be held across East Sussex.

In 2012 115,000 people signed up, raising a record £15 million.

Macmillan provides home nursing support and advice for those diagnosed with cancer and their families.

The annual event has raised more than £75 million since it first started in 1990.
