According to a sign on the pond’s entrance gate it will reopen on Monday 17, but until then the beach area will be ‘closed to allow work to reduce the rat population’.

The sign also asks the public not to feed the ducks as ‘excess food and litter encourages the rats to remain’.

Horsham District Council has been approached for comment.
