Relief in sight as road work approved

WORK on the highly anticipated Bognor Regis Northern Relief Road could begin soon.

An application for a single-carriageway eastern section of the road in Felpham has been approved by Arun planners.

About 2km long, it will include bridges running over the Bognor Regis railway line and Lidsey Rife water-course, and will make up half of the relief road that will ultimately link the A259 near Flansham Lane in Felpham to the A29 near Oldlands Farm in North Bersted.

Councillor Ricky Bower, Arun's cabinet member for planning, said: "I think the road is vitally important to the future of Bognor Regis overall.

"There is a lot of regeneration and development going on in the Bognor area, some 500m-worth over the next five or six years."
