Resident's appeal to Bexhill to help make Marija's Christmas

It doesn't take that much to make someone's Christmas - in Marija's case just a card would make such a difference.

That’s the hope of Bexhill resident Marcia Linden, who is appealing for Christmas cards to be sent out to Serbia.

Marcia came across Marija (pictured) while carrying out research for Animals Helped Abroad, which rescues cats and dogs in Eastern Europe.

Marcia said: “Hard to believe by looking at her, but she is 23 and her mother abandoned her as a baby because of her many health issues.

“My friend Slavika spoke to her on the phone; she loves to read Dostoevsky and many other writers, she is so nice but feels very lonely living in the nursing home in one little town near Nis.

“She loves musical cards, but any will be great. It will make her so happy to know there are people who care.”

• Her address is Marija Petrovic, Dom Za Invalidna Lica Doljevac, 18410 Doljevac, Serbia.
