Revised Mid Sussex District Plan meeting to discuss ‘Duty to Cooperate’

The timetable for the preparation of the revised District Plan will be laid out today (June 4) by the Scrutiny Committee for Planning and Economic Development.

The committee will discuss the legal ‘Duty to Cooperate’ with growth requirements, which an inspector deemed last year’s original plan did not adhere to.

Mid Sussex District Council was told to go back to the drawing board over its district plans for housing in the area between Brighton and Crawley.

This led to fears that the new plan will allow the Mid Sussex countryside to be swamped with new housing.

After the original plan was rejected, MP Nick Herbert stated that the delay to Mid Sussex’s local plan was undermining promises to local people that they should have their way on how their communities are shaped.

The meeting will be held in the council chamber at Mid Sussex District Council on Oaklands Road at 7pm.
