Joe Chambers as First Officer Ditty and Andrew Crawford as Professor Poet from the CBeebies show beamed down to Springfield Infant School to give a live performance of rhyme, poetry, song and silliness.

Their mission was to collect rhymes from the children, which they used to power their rocket home to Planet Rhyme.

“This was an opportunity to learn literacy through drama and accessible for all ages.”

The next day, the crew landed at Lyndhurst Infant School and ran a series of workshops with the main emphasis on developing the children’s knowledge of rhyming words.

Sarah Marchant, finance support assistant, said: “They put on a very entertaining show, where the children all became rhyme recruits to help refuel the Rhyme Rocket’s tank with rhymes to get them safely back home.

“The show included plenty of slapstick fun ending up with a pie in the face for Professor Poet, which the children found hilarious.
