COUNTRY MARKET: The market takes place each Tuesday in the village hall from 10am to 11am. At present we have a selection of locally grown summer vegetables on sale, runner beans, tomatoes etc as well as colourful garden plants. The usual choice of homemade sweet and savoury items will be available including ready meals, pies, cakes, bread and preserves. We also sell free range eggs, handmade greetings cards for all occasions and other craft items.

FLOWER CLUB: The club will be meeting in the village hall at 2pm on Wednesday when the demonstrator will be Gaenor Circus. Her title is Through the Ages and the competition for members who wish to enter is A Tussie Mussie. Visitors are welcome to come along to enjoy the flower arranging demonstration and refreshments for a small charge of £4.

BRIDGE CLUB: At its meeting on Wednesday August 24, the result of the duplicate pairs played was: joint 1, Suzanne Malley and Tony Wing, Joan Evett and Sandra Dudley-Williams; 3, Carol Holloway and Jenny Lodge. The club next meets in the St Mary’s room of the village hall on Wednesday at 7.30pm. Contact 814220.

ST MARY’S: This Sunday, as the Revd Beth and Ian McCleave are on their honeymoon, the Revd Lucy Hollingsworth will be leading our Family Service at 10am. The theme of the day is forgiveness. It is a shorter informal service, suitable for all ages and new faces are always welcome. We are very lucky that the Archdeacon of Brighton and Lewes, the Ven Martin Lloyd-Jones will be leading our Eucharist Service at 6.30pm and at 8am the Holy Communion service will be led by Revd Martin Brown. Mostly Mums meets on Tuesday 9.30am to 11am for toddlers and their parents and carers. Time to explore the church, make some mess and enjoy songs and prayers (with the help of some bubbles). As we resume the usual pattern of meetings after the summer break, do keep an eye on our website for details of what’s going on. St Mary’s has a great community with so much going on, from Men’s Club and Mother’s Union to Mostly Mums, the choir and art groups.

SINGALONG: Returns on September 14. All are welcome, men and women of any age. We are a very happy group and sing a wide variety of songs. You don’t need to be an accomplished singer, if you enjoy singing then come along and give it a try. We meet each Wednesday afternoon, except the first Wednesday of each month, from 2pm to 4.30pm. POETRY, PROSE AND JAZZ/SOUL: Ringmer Twinning Association invites you to its Poetry, Prose and Jazz/Soul Evening. Saturday September 24 at 7pm in the village hall, Symons Hall. Bring along your favourite short poems or literary passages (in any language) to recite or simply come and enjoy the evening. Musical interludes of blues, soul, jazz will be provided by Ali and her Jazz Group. Refreshments of cheese ploughman’s (bring your own alcohol).
