His manager, Steve Johnson, and his team-mates all travelled to the hospital to pay their final respects.

A stunned Johnson said: 'They're all in their now saying their goodbyes.

'He's been with me at every club I've been at. He's only just come back into the team and was playing only his second game of the season.

'He was a very, very popular lad with all the players.'

Chairman Richard Soan added: 'I'll always remember Herve for being one of those lovely guys who always had a smile on his face.

'He leaves a partner, Sarah. The loss of such a young life is a great tragedy.'
