Robbery trial has been postponed

THE trial of a Battle man, who is accused of being involved in an attack on a cash transit van outside a supermarket, has been postponed until the spring.

31-year-old Billy Brown, of Coronation Gardens, appeared at Lewes Crown Court back in August alongside John Hayward, 44, of Sutton Avenue, Seaford.

Both pleaded not guilty to robbery in relation to an attack on a cash transit van outside Waitrose supermarket in Eastbourne Old Town on April 30 this year.

The hearing was adjourned and a trial was due to get underway at Lewes Crown Court on Monday (October 14).

The trial was estimated to last for five days.

But this week the hearing was postponed until March 3, 2014.

The two men will now be tried before a judge at Guildford Crown Court.
