Help is still needed for tidying up the Churchyard. The grass is now very long and there’s lots of cutting back to be done if all areas are to remain accessible. If you have any spare time or could gather a group together who might be able to go along and help that would be fantastic. Soap Box Derby: was a fantastic success last Sunday with many thanks to Andrew Augarde and Matt Tidmarsh for being the main organisers. Also many thanks to everyone that helped in any way to make the afternoon a great event. From the marshals, catering and bar staff, residents of Salehurst, spectators and certainly the entertainment of the Soap Box builders and drivers. Also to First Aiders that were on location just in case. Luckily no major injuries but a couple of incidents at the bottom corner. A brilliant afternoon that was organised to raise funds for Demelza House and the Bonfire Society. Hopefully this could become another date for the Robertsbridge Annual Diary.

The Robertsbridge Summer Event: is here this weekend. Sunday 19th, Fathers Day and also Royalty and Ragtime on the Recreation Ground starting at 12.30pm. This is a free event for the entire village. Entertainment all afternoon, music and games with prizes to be won. Just enjoy a chill out and bring your picnic, gazebo and the family.

Macmillan Charity Disco: is on next Saturday at Robertsbridge Club. Entry is £5 and tickets are available from Sandie at the Floral Boutique.

Robertsbridge Aviation Society: is holding its Annual Book Sale on Sunday 26th June between 11am – 5pm. There will be books on many subjects for sale plus a bric-a-brac stall. The museum will be open, which contains an amazing collection of Military and Civil Aviation from both World Wars up to the present time. There is a new exhibition from 1950`s / 1960`s. This is at Bush Barn north of Robertsbridge TN325PA. It will be sign posted on the day, free parking and free entry with any donations gratefully received. Light refreshments will be available.

Robertsbridge Bonfire Society: will be holding the first Boot Sale of the season at the recreation ground on Sunday 26th June. To book a pitch please contact Pete Claridge on 01580 880468.

Do not forget to vote on Thursday 23rd June at Robertsbridge Hall. It is important that everyone has his or her say so don’t waste your vote. If you don’t vote you cannot moan afterwards, whichever way it goes.

STOOLBALL: The Ladies home match against Icklesham last Tuesday saw both sides field some very young players as the visitors batted first they reached 104-3 from their 10 overs with young Molly[13] and Mildred[14] sharing a 29 run partnership before Mildred was caught by Sarah Clark from Lucy Kuhler’[1-11] bowling. Angharad[30] shared a 38 run partnership before Molly was caught by Sarah from Lisa Fifield’[1-7] bowling which brought in Hannah[23n.o.] to join Angaharad and with the score on 102 she was run out. Young Freya[1n.o.] joined Hannah for the last 2 balls. In reply we lost opener Charlie Apps[1] with the score on 10 and when Abigail Green[13] was caught we were struggling on 29-2 but a 63 run partnership between young Alisha Clark[26n.o.] and Lou Taylor[31] restored some pride before Lou was caught on 82 which brought in Sarah[1n.o.] to see the innings close on 85-3. Last Thursday the Mixed played at Civil Service and the hosts batted first and were soon in trouble when Sarah[3] was run out and then Dan[6] was bowled by Abigail Green[1-9]. Good fielding led to Elissa[5] being run out with the score on 19-3 the hosts needed a partnership and that came when Ben[69] and Ann[30] put on 101 before an injury to Ann saw her leave the pitch which brought in skipper Donna[0] who was clean bowled by Graham Clark[1-11]. Ann returned to the action just in time to see Ben run out with the score on 120 and then Maria[1] was clean bowled by Keith Apps[2-2-24] on 131 and just one run later Ann was caught by Ian Kitson from Sarah Clark’[2-1-21] bowling. Neil[7] was caught by Graham from Keith’s bowling while Dave[7n.o.] and Keith[1n.o.] saw the hosts finish their 11 overs on 144-8. We lost Sarah[6] with 9 runs on the board but a 62 run partnership between Keith[42] and Penny Clark[19] steadied the innings before Keith was caught and then Penny was bowled but then JJ Boast[2], Abigail[0] and Melinda Mackay[4] saw 3 wickets fall for just 5 runs. We needed a partnership to stop the rot and that came when skipper Richard Apps[40] and Diane Kitson[10n.o.] put on 42 before Richard was caught just 5 runs short of victory, however, Reece Kuhler[10n.o.] saw us home by 10 runs. The Mixed are at home to Scorpions on Tuesday[21st] and then at home on Thursday[23rd] to Catsfield with both matches starting at 7p.m.
