Tomorrow Saturday 26th April between 2pm-5pm at the United Reformed Church hosted by RoCoCo you can attend a singing workshop led by Juliet Russell. For this event non-choir members are welcome to attend and the ticket price on the door is £5.00.

Then from 6pm till late there is an event at Robertsbridge Club being organised by Lil Nic Murphy Breslin and Louise Berwick to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society and the Robertsbridge Bonfire Society. The cost of entry for this us just £5 per adult and £2.50 for children and starts with Hayley Jay between 6pm – 7pm, between 7pm – 8pm will be DJ Snooky and between 8pm – 9pm will be Tom Prescott and his rock band. There will be a raffle and light refreshments during the evening and there will be a disco between 9pm – 12 midnight. All timings are approximate, as you all know live events don’t always work to time.

Monday 28th April Age Concern resumes after the Easter break between 10.30am – 2.15pm at Robertsbridge Hall.

On Tuesday 29th at The Salehurst Halt is an evening of Wine Tasting being organised by Majestic from 7pm. There will be some suggestions for food and wines to put together.

On Friday 2nd May there will be another wine tasting evening from 7.30pm to 10pm by Carr Taylor at Robertsbridge Hall in aid of Robertsbridge Community Association. They will be bringing along many of their fine wines to sample. Tickets can be purchased from Judges Bakery or call 01580 880457.

Football : The 2nd team hosted Hawhurst United II on Tuesday evening in glorious sunshine. The teams were evenly matched in the first half hour with both missing opportunities before The Bridge went close with Bradley Lyne’ shot just going over and just before the break Ian Austin swung in a corner that found Daniel Felts head but it was cleared off the line. The 2nd half saw chances from both sides go begging and it was looking that neither side would score until the visitors broke down the right and the winger calmly slotted the ball home in the last minute of the match. The 1st’s only chance of silverware this season was dashed on Wednesday evening when they were outplayed by Ninfield United in the semi-final of the Robertsbridge Charity Intermediate Cup, sponsored by Speedtrace Builders Ltd., losing 5-1. The Bridge started well with Guy Ballard shooting over the bar twice in nthe opening minutes and Dominic Whittaker shooting wide but we did take the lead when Ballard was fouled in the box and he converted the penalty after 27 minutes but lack of concentration from a free kick led the the hosts equalsing a minute before the break and an ankle injury to Ben Hardy knocked the sting out of the Bridge defence and whilst man of the match Adam Hardy did his best at the back it was the hosts that took control scoring on 50 minutes and then again after 72, 77 minutes. The Bridge pushed to reduce the arrears but they were caught on the break after 82 minutes and the hosts scored from the spot however The Bridge did score what seemed a good goal on 83 minutes but the linesmans flag was raised so The Bridge’s chance trophy was lost. On Saturday the 1st team put the dissappointment of their midweek defeat behind them and thrashed Rock-a-Nore 7-1 at Tilekiln in the ADA East Sussex Football League Premier Division. The game was just 3 minutes old when a shot from Paul Barnes went past the post but the Rocks struck back immediately forcing Bridge keeper Grant Lewis into a save but The Bridge did open the scoring after 16 minutes when Hoawrd Atkinson headed on for man of the match Guy Ballard to score and just 2 minutes later Toby Blackman curled the ball into the top corner. Chris Aspinall made it 3-0 on 20 minutes but the Rocks came into the game and Lewis had to make two good saves before the break. The second period saw Phil Green score after 63 minutes but the Rocks netted just 4 minutes later when a shot cannoned off Michael Stone however the four goal advantage was restored on 69 minutes with Ballard’ second and he completed his hat-trick on 81 minutes. Ballard finished off an out-standing team performance with his fourth 3 minutes from the end for an easy 7-1 victory. The 2nd team hosted Battle Baptists III in Division 6 and we found ourselves a goal down straight from the kick off without any of our players touching the ball and a further lapse in defence saw The Baptists double their lead from a corner after 7 minutes. Man of the match Will Barden had a couple of chances cleared and then the rest of the half saw The Bridge defend with the occasional break but our shooting was off target. The second half saw a re-shuffle and this gave us momentum and after 65 minutes Daniel Felts saw his header hit the bar and just 2 minutes later a goalmouth scramble was cleared off the line. The Bridge searched for a goal and it eventually came on 85 minutes when Andy Barden netted from close range and in a frantic last five minutes we had chances but The Baptists defence somehow seem to clear everything that we threw at them as they held on for all three points. Tomorrow the 1st team are at home to Peche Hill Select K.O. 3p.m.

Stoolball : Thursday 1st May will be our last practice session at the Cricket Ground from 6.30p.m. before we start our season the following week.

Darts : Tonight is the pushpenny pairs knockout semi-finals at Mountfield Club 8p.m.
