Christmas is fast approaching now and last Friday saw Christmas Capers starting the festive season in the village. It was a great success again and many thanks go to all the people who organised the event and to all the traders that opened up until 9pm and to all the locals that put in their efforts of acting, singing, craft works, and more, also to all those that came out to support it.

Attention dog walkers The Football Club are having to clear up dogs mess off the pitch every Saturday before they can play and last week despite clearing the pitch in the morning there was a considerable amount back in the afternoon. Please take note that your dog must be on a lead at ALL TIMES and that if you are caught not picking up your dogs mess you can be fined upto £500 but apart from that if a player or child gets an infection from falling on your mess it can lead to a serious illness so be aware and responsible. THERE WILL BE AN OFFICER FROM THE COUNCIL RANDOMLY CHECKING THAT YOUR DOG IS NOT THE CULPRIT.

We would like to send our condolences to the family and friends of John Rogers who sadly passed away last week. He was another one of the well-known characters of the village that many people will sadly miss. Over the years he has helped many of the young people in the village and taught them skills that will stay with them. The sight of him driving his tractor around the village has always been part of the infrastructure of Robertsbridge in my lifetime and it will be very strange not to see him. He was a farmer through and through and loved his animals; it was always the first sign of spring when you saw John Rogers’s sheep with their lambs in the fields. The positive side is that he was farming right to the end, as I am sure he would have wanted it to be.
