Tonight, Friday 12th October is when Robertsbridge Archaeological Society start their monthly meetings again.

These are held at Robertsbridge Hall starting at 7.30pm. The President of the Society Mr David Martin will be giving the talk for this evening, as the planned speaker is unable to attend.

Robertsbridge Group of Age UK has planned a trip to Polhill Garden Centre near Sevenoaks on Monday 15th October. There are still some seats available at the cost of £7.00 pp. If you would like to go please ring this weekend on 880511 to check availability and to book. The coach will leave Robertsbridge Hall at approx. 10.15am and will return approx. 3.15pm. Other expenses are not included in the price.

Polhill is a very large garden centre with restaurant and several smaller shops within the premises. Plenty of time to browse and maybe start a bit of Christmas shopping and to have lunch.

Wednesday 17th October is the next Tea Dance Party at Robertsbridge Club. This starts at 2pm and finishes at 4.30pm and costs £3.50 entry, which includes music, dancing tea and cakes, and a raffle. This event is held on the third Wednesday of every month and is run by Robertsbridge Bonfire Society.

If someone collapses YOU could save their life!! The easy to use Public Access Defibrillator is easy to use, which means any member of the public can use it. If you would like to learn how to use one, and have a practise, the British Red Cross Group in Robertsbridge would like to give you the chance to build your confidence by having a practise and having a go. All you need to take is yourself and a friend or two to this very worthwhile evening at the drop in session on Wednesday 17th October at Robertsbridge Youth Centre between 5pm – 8pm. There are 2 Public Access Defibrillators in the village, one situated on the front wall of the Vets and the other at the Salehurst Halt. Robertsbridge Bonfire Society meeting has been changed this week to Wednesday 17th October and not the 18th as stated before. It is starting at Robertsbridge Club at 8.30pm. Calling all members as the jobs to organise bonfire night are being allocated. Your help is now needed. If you are not a member but would like to be a collector or a marshal on the night please contact Sandie at the Floral Boutique 01580 880977 and she will be pleased to take your details.

Start collecting items to make your Guy for November 17th Guy Competition, more details to follow nearer the time.

Thursday 18th October is when the next evening of Progressive Whist is taking place. Doors open at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start, all are welcome.

Thursday 18th October at Robertsbridge Club starting at 7.30pm is an evening of fun from Bowjangles. This is a very talented and virtuosic string quartet. The evening is named The Bowlympics and is a hilarious take on the Olympics, with an eccentric mixture of song and dance. Bowjangles will serenade and play their way through the much-admired sporting events, which gripped the country this summer. This is to include, fencing, rowing, gymnastics, boxing and much more. Entry to this event costs £7.50 for adults and £5.00 for children, with refreshments available.

Salehurst School Association is holding a kids Disco on Friday 19th October with tickets costing £4, which includes a hot dog. Tickets are available from Mr Lockwood at the school gate before and after school.

Robertsbridge Twinning Association is holding a Quiz Night on Friday 19th at Robertsbridge Hall. Tickets are available from the Ostrich, Salehurst Halt, Judges bakers and the Post Office at the cost of £6 for members and £8 for non-members. Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.

LADIES DARTS: Our first match of the new season started with a roller coaster against The Royal Oak. In the singles Carol, Dawn and Rosemary all won to give us a 3-2 lead but with only Steph/Rosemary winning the doubles the match was all square at 4-4 going into the trebles. We lost the first two games but Alice, Carol/Rosemary won the last as we lost 6-5. There were high scores for Rosemary[100,85,80], Dawn[91,83,], Carol[87,83,74], Jackie[81,79] and Steph[73]. Next Monday[8th] we are away to Ticehurst Club at 8p.m.

DARTS: The new season started with a convincing win against Mountfield Club ‘B’ winning the singles darts 7-0 with victory for Dave Goodsell, Richard Hawthorne, Michael Stone, Guy Ballard, Tom Ripley, Alec Martin and Dan Smith while there was victory in the Mens Pairs 1-0 for Richard/Dan, Mixed Pairs 2-0 for Cherry Taylor/Guy but the Ladies Pairs of Zoe Lavender/Alice Hodges lost 2-1. There were 100+ scores for Richard[6x100] and Dave[2x100]. The pushpenny team won 5-0 with victories for Michael Stone, Dave Goodsell, Alan Apps, Alec Martin and Cherry Taylor with ‘goldwatches’ for Alan[3], Dave[1] and Alec[1]. Tonight we do not have a game.
