Robertsbridge village voice - March 23

Robertsbridge Community Association is holding another evening of Cinema at Robertsbridge Hall tomorrow evening Saturday 24th March. The film showing will be `Pirates of the Caribbean – On Stranger Tides`.

This is a 12A certificate. The doors open at 7pm for the film to start at 7.30pm and tickets cost £4 and are available from the Floral Boutique and on the door. There will be a licensed bar and refreshments available during the evening. Much cheaper than going to the cinema, but you may need to take your own cushion.

PCSO Tina Grevett will be holding one of her surgeries in the High Street on Sunday 25th March at 10am, the only time that she will not be there at one of her surgeries is if she gets called away to a major incident. If you have any issues or local community problems then you can go and have a chat with her or ask for advice.

Tina has asked me to put in the next piece of information concerning dog walking in the fields behind the Pocket Parks to clarify the situation. There are new restrictions in place in this area due to a new farmer renting the land. Whereas before you have been able to walk dogs in this area without them being on a lead, this is now no longer the case. The farmer and owner of the land have decided to reinforce their rights to ask for dogs to be kept on a lead when walked on the public rights of way through their land so they do not stray onto the farmers land. This would be a civil matter of trespass. Tina would like to point out and advise, that as do the posters in the area state the farmer does have a right to shoot any dog that is seen worrying or attacking his sheep. If you need to contact Tina her number is 07810656247 or go and see her on Sunday.

The spring is now here after the winter break and that means the Robertsbridge Aviation Society will be re-opening this Sunday 25th March between 2pm – 5pm. There are exhibits from 1st and 2nd World War and up to date. Entry is free but donations towards the upkeep of the museum are always very welcome. There are refreshments available throughout the afternoon. The museum is open the last Sunday of every month, if you would like a group visit then you can request one by ringing 01424 773428 or email [email protected] During the year the Society do fundraising and always need clothes, bric-a-brac, rags, anything that can be sold to make money, again for the upkeep of the museum. If you have anything that can be donated and you would like it collected please contact the number or email above. The museum is at Bush Barn just North of Robertsbridge on the A21 and for those with a sat nav the postcode is TN32 0JL.

Sunday 25th March in the afternoon is when Music Sunday starts back at the George with the live band `Local Heroes` playing from 5pm.

Remember this Saturday 24th March; before you go to bed to put all your clocks forward 1 hour, we have survived the winter !!

Ladies Darts: We hosted The Bear II on Monday [12th] and surprised ourselves when we were leading 4-1 after singles wins for Jackie Danaher, Steph Goldsmith, Eileen Morgan and Dawn Mitchell but Carol Apps/Dawn won the only doubles game as we went into the trebles with a 5-3 lead needing just one win in the trebles for victory and that came in the first game with Steph/Carol/Eileen winning which took the pressure off the remaining games however we did win the last game thanks to Eileen/Jackie/Carol to win the match 7-4. There were high scores for Carol [116, 83], Jackie [100, 87, 85], Dawn [99, 90], Steph [93] and Eileen [85, 82].
