Roger's fixing the show

Jimmy Savile's former television producer has turned his hand to amateur dramatics, directing Lewes Operatic Society's forthcoming production Crazy for You.

Roger Ordish, who lives in Lewes, produced the BBC programme Jim'll Fix It for all of its 19 years on television. He has now retired from the BBC, but jumped at the chance to direct the hit Gershwin musical in Lewes Town Hall.

Roger said: 'If I could have written to Jim'll Fix It myself, I would have asked to appear in a musical.

'Lewes Operatic Society made my dream come true, and now I'm taking things one stage further by getting the chance to direct this wonderful show.'

Roger also worked with Paul Daniels, and he hopes that the magician will be able to attend one of the performances.

'Paul and his wife Debbie came to see last spring's Lewes Operatic Society show and thoroughly enjoyed themselves,' he said.

The group is hoping that the production will repeat the sell-out success of Oliver!, which they staged last year.
