Oaktree Farm is situated in Copsale and is a centre for young adults with learning difficulties.

The aim of the centre is to assist the young people attending to lead an independent and fulfilling life while allowing them to be involved in the decision making at the centre. When the centre had funding problems in purchasing two wheelchairs some of the staff decided to ask Horsham Rotary if they could help.

Horsham Rotary has run a scheme called Making a Difference for the past five years. The scheme gives local individuals, families or organisations the opportunity to apply for financial help in cases where there are no other sources of funding or the funding available leaves a shortfall. The club has so far received 360 requests and has donated nearly £60, 000 under the scheme.

In the case of Oaktree Farm staff member Kaz Barnett applied for the financing of the two wheelchairs and Horsham Rotary were pleased to help. The wheelchairs will be used to take those with limited mobility on wheelchair walks in the country allowing some of the young people to experience views of nature and their surroundings that they would otherwise not have been able to enjoy.

Horsham Rotary member, Reverend John Du Bois, attended the centre to present the two wheelchairs to the centre director, Amanda Churcher and the instigator of the request for help, Kaz Barnett.
