Rother residents could benefit from cheaper fuel bills

RESIDENTS could benefit from cheaper fuel bills as part of a new scheme on offer in Rother.

People in the district have until Monday November 18 to register their interest in the Big Community Switch, which allows consumers to sign up as part of a group to receive a better deal on gas and electricity.

The scheme, which is being supported by Rother District Council, offers energy firms the chance to bid for the right to offer their deal to all those who have registered an interest.

If they choose to accept the offer from the supplier offering the cheapest deal, consumers will have the entire process of transferring to the new supplier taken care of.

Anyone interested in the scheme can sign up online or by visiting their nearest participating office, the Community Contact Centre at Hastings Town Hall.

They will be asked to provide their name, address and contact details, the name of their current energy provider and current energy consumption, details which are available on their latest bill.

The organiser of the scheme, iChoosr, calculates how much participants could save and offers them the chance to switch.

People are under no obligation to accept, and their details will not be shared with the new supplier unless they choose to switch.

People who register an interest will be notified of the offer from energy firms from Friday November 29 and, if they choose to switch, have until Monday January 13 to confirm this.

People can register their interest at http://bigcommunityswitch.ichoosr.com and can also ask a trusted relative or friend to handle the registration for them.

More information is available by calling the free helpline number on 0800 0488285.
