Rother won't collect your old dustbins - yet

ROTHER cannot undertake its promised collection of old dustbins made redundant by the advent of wheelie bins until the end of 2007.

Council leader Carl Maynard says: "It is still the council's intention to do this but ... the priority at the moment is to ensure that the basic service meets the expectations of the council and all of its residents.

"I do not expect to be in a position to dispose of the old binds until the end of 2007."

Cllr Maynard was responding to an inquiry via his Ask The Leader slot on the www.rother.gov.uk website.

He also confirmed that householders could leave a maximum of two sacks of garden waste for kerbside collection before the introduction of the green wheelie bin system.
