'Roundabout is an eyesore'

THE Glyne Gap roundabout is an appalling eyesore and would benefit from some floral sponsorship.

So says Councillor Charles Clark, (Ind, St Michael s) who has been protesting about the height of the roundabout s foliage for over 10 years.

The former town mayor claims the shrubbery planted on the roundabout has grown so tall it blocks the views up the road for pedestrians trying to cross the A259 trunk road, causing a dangerous situation.

Last week Cllr Clark voted at Rother District Council s policy committee in favour of approaching an advertising company to sponsor floral displays on the town s roundabouts.

He said: I fully support the sponsorship of Rother s roundabouts and floral displays. The roundabout at Glyne Gap is an appalling eyesore and all my letters to the county council in recent years have fallen on deaf ears.

It must be possible these days for inter-agency approach to problems, to quickly improve the roundabout.
