Royal visit for Rustington

The Duke of Kent visited the new wing of family accommodation at Princes Marina House located in Seafield Road, Rustington on Monday (December 7).

Arriving early in the afternoon, the Duke was greeted by the Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex Susan Pyper and the Controller of the RAF Benevolent Fund, Air Marshal Christopher Nikols, who joined the Duke for lunch along with other guests in one of the recently constructed family homes.

Following lunch, councillor Andy Cooper, chairman of Arun District Council and Nigel Lynn, the council’s chief executive were formally presented to the Duke along with other invited guests.

Following a short tour of the two newly built apartments, available for use by RAF personnel and their families, the Duke moved into the main house to meet guests and residents of Princess Marina House. The Duke then unveiled a plaque to mark the opening of the new family wing.

Mr Cooper said: “It was an honour to meet the Duke and I am delighted that he has been able to spend time looking around the wonderful facilities at Princess Marina House.

“This really highlights the amazing work that the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund and the staff and supporters of Princess Marina House do to enable this valuable and much needed provision to run.”
