R&R - 20 successful years in Sidley

Celebrating 20 years in Sidley, R&R Kitchens unveiled its new showroom to customers and visitors on Saturday.

Town Mayor Cllr Paul Lendon attended the official launch of the refurbishment which illustrates how the business has gone from strength to strength.

Owner Steve Roller said: "We have got a mixture of people here - we invited people we have done kitchens for, and potential customers as well.

"It has worked very well, there is a lot of people here talking and interacting which each other, and discussing their experiences which is good."

He opened his business on Ninfield Road in August 1988 and knew from the start that the situation was right.

"We felt that Sidley was the area that would suit us," he said.

"When we were starting out, we were looking for a premises outside the main town centre of Bexhill because the rent and rates would be expensive. We thought it would be more sensible to be outside the town centre because the people who were serious about having a new kitchen would come looking for us. And that has worked - that would explain to a high degree why our percentage of conversions is very good, because out of every 10 people who come in, we sell to eight of them. It is because we are not passing trade - people are looking for us and come in to see us because they are serious about buying a kitchen.

"So being here in Sidley is a benefit with people coming to find us but also because the area is right for us."
