For father-of-two Chris Robinson, of Pigeonhouse Lane, training for his first half-marathon has been an uphill struggle.

And to spice up his preparation for his charity venture, Chris decided to create an innovative 10-mile training route through Rustington and Littlehampton – in the shape of a cow.

Chris, 42, spent a day planning and memorising his piece of ‘running art’ and monitored his progress using a GPS tracker.

However, it was not all smooth running, he admitted.

“I had real trouble getting the udders to come out on the route,” he explained. “I spent ages memorising the route and all its little nuances.

“I wanted to do something a bit more interesting and creative with my training.

Running is pretty boring. This way it gives you a distraction and psychologically it really works.”

Chris completed the distance in a solid time of 1hr 18min.

So far his efforts have generated about £240 of sponsorship cash.

All the money will be going disability charity Scope.

Chris added he had taken up running only recently, completing his furthest distance – 10,000m – last September in the Chestnut Tree House coastal run, at Littlehampton. The Brighton Half-Marathon takes place on February 16 and Chris hopes to complete the race in 1hr 40min.

Those wishing to sponsor his efforts can do so by visiting here and searching ‘Chris Robinson’.
