Rye area wins Battle to celebrate Britain!

Legendary war-planes will be taking to the skies above Rye on Saturday as the area gets set to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in spectacular style.

Hundreds of celebrations are taking place in Rye and the surrounding villages to mark this historic event from street parties to colourful processions and firework displays

On the Tuesday flaming beacons will be lit at Rye, Winchelsea, Northiam, Brede, Icklesham and Fairlight.

One of the highlights of the weekend sees a display of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight over Rye featuring a Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster bomber.

Starting at 4pm on Saturday, the place to be is Strand Quay, Rye. See inside for more stories and details.
