Rye councillor dies

RYE Town councillor David Wright has died aged 63.

He died at the Conquest Hospital on Saturday August 6, following a long illness.

David, who has three children, had lived in the Landgate for 13 years and played an active role there establishing a resident’s asociation.

He also wrote articles for the Rye Observer about life in Landgate.

He was always proud of being an independent councillor and served for four years.

Rye councillor and Rother Council chairman Lord Ampthill said; “I was very sad to hear the news. David had been desperately ill for a long time but always came up smiling.

“He was very bright and independent minded and cared deeply about a wide range of issues confrontinh Rye.

Details of David’s funeral had not been released at the time of going to press.
