The group are behind the successful Recycle Swap Shops held at Tilling Green Community Centre.

People can bring unwanted items or just turn up and take them to help prevent more material from going into landfill.

In July the project topped one tonne of recycled material.

On top of this, a total of 334kg has been taken to charity shops and 156kg recycled. This left just 110kg going to landfill, equivalent to 6.3% (by weight) of the items brought by visitors to the events.

The next Swap Shop event is set to take place on Saturday November 30 from 9.30am.

The group also meet regularly for drinks and a chat at the Queens Head, at Landgate, Rye.
