Rye Police pull over drivers to hammer home road safety

The initiative was timed to coincide with Road Safety Week.

PC Nigel Collins said: “On Tuesday, 20 November, we began this campaign by stopping drivers who didn’t have a seatbelt on or seemed to be driving anti socially or dangerously.

“Each driver was given a talk about driving in a safe manner. We are continuing this initiative throughout the week including visits to local schools to give talks about being safe on the road.”

He added:“We will not, however, stop at the end of the week; we will be increasing speed checks on problem roads and continue to work with local communities to tackle speeding.”

The global initiative, started by the charity ‘Brake’, aims to get communities working together to inspire all to promote road safety and prevent road crashes.
