Rye propertiesare broken into

THIEVES are targeting homes and garages in Rye in the run-up to Christmas.

Police have reported a number of incidents in the Tilling Green and Udimore Road area.

Fishing equipment worth hundreds of pounds was stolen when a garage was broken into at Udimore Road between 7pm on November 30 and 5pm on December 2.

Taken were Thirteen fishing rods including a 14 ½ metre Connoisseur fishing pole, four fishing reels and a tackle box.

A van was broken into at nearby Cadborough Cliff, overnight on December 2 and a Ruby tile cutter and set of Makita drills were stolen.

A property at Udimore Road had its green wheelie bin stolen between 7pm and 10pm on December 3.

The back door of a house at Cooper Road was forced open between 6:30am and 9:10pm on November 29 but nothing was stolen.

The hasp was cut off a garage at Ferring Close, in Rye, overnight on December 2 but nothing was stolen.

A red Peugeot 206 parked at Tillingham Avenue has one of its number plates stolen between 3pm on December 2 and 11am on the 3rd.

Elsewhere in the town there was an attempted break-in at the Queens Head in Landgate overnight on December 1. No entry was gained but a leaded window was damaged. A dark brown leather purse was stolen from the pub on November 30.

A car parked at Winchelsea Beach had its windscreen smashed on December 4.
