Sackville Court celebrates 25 years

SACKVILLE Court, one of Sussex Housing and Care sheltered housing schemes in Bexhill, celebrated its 25th anniversary in style.

Last week, more than 40 residents enjoyed a party in the Alexandra room.

Janet Richards, one of the organising committee, welcomed everyone to this bumper party which was brimming with sumptuous home-made cakes.

A good time was had by all as it was an ideal time to catch up with many memories from over the years.

Irene Clark, past Chairman of the Friends Committee, now resident of Sackville Court, thanked both Sussex Housing and Care and particularly scheme managers Marjorie Doherty and Angela Bates for all their help and support over the years.

Sackville Court is made up of 19 purpose-built flats in two phases, which were ready for occupation at the end of 1983 and early 1984.

These flats were designed to be 'affordable' and they are sold with long leases at 70 per cent of market value.

The scheme was visited and officially opened in October 1984 by the then Minister of Housing and local MP Ian Gow.
