Sale of old Lec Airfield at '˜advanced stage'

The 45.6 acre site, off Shripney Road and a mile north of Bognor Regis, has been identified by Arun District Council as a strategic employment site for mixed employment, with the potential to create hundreds of new jobs.

The site was put up for sale earlier this year by Sime Darby London Limited (SDLL), and after a number of offers, a preferred buyer was identified.

Raof Daud, representing SDLL said: “An important feature of the sale process was that SDLL requested interested parties to submit unconditional offers only, because the company is seeking an unconditional sale.

“We are very pleased to have identified a serious buyer for the Lec Airfield, and are now at an advanced stage of due diligence and negotiations with a view to concluding a deal. “We hope to complete a sale by the middle of the year.”

It is expected the development of the site will create several hundreds of new jobs.
