Sally Lee MBE is new chairman of Trust

Sally Lee MBE has taken over as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sara Lee Trust, a charity which she and her husband Jeremy founded in 1996 in memory of their daughter Sara.

Sally replaces Michael Lear, who was Vice Chair of the Trust for five years prior to becoming Chair two years ago.

Sally and Dr Jeremy Lee founded The Sara Lee Trust (SLT) in memory of their daughter Sara, who died of cancer, aged 32, following a two year illness. The Trust provides specialist counselling and therapy care and support to local people who are living with life-threatening conditions, along with their family and carers. The Trust also provides services to patients on the wards at both St Michaels Hospice and the Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital.

Sally says she is looking forward to her new role. She said: “Taking on the Chair of The Sara Lee Trust I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead.

“I am especially excited about providing more services to more people with life threatening illness. It will be a pleasure to work with our team, and many volunteers to achieve this.”

Chief Executive of the SLT Dan Redsull praised Michael’s work for the Trust and welcomed Sally as Chair. He said: “Michael has been instrumental in developing the sustainability of the Trust, It is as a result of his drive and expertise combined with the hard work of the wonderful Trust staff and volunteer team, and amazing support of local people, that the Trust has been able to maintain and now start to increase its care provision for local people. Michael will continue to support the Trust into the future.

“As we move forward, Sally’s understanding and experience of both patient care and complementary therapies will be critical to our aspirations of developing the scale, scope and accessibility of our services to meet the changing and growing local need”.
