Roy Whiting, who lived in Littlehampton before being convicted of the abduction and murder of Sarah Payne in December, 2001, had lived in the home being searched by police in Martyrs Avenue, Crawley.

The property in Langley Green was home to Abdul Waheed Majeed, 41, who is suspected of carrying out a suicide truck bombing in Aleppo last Thursday.

Mr Majeed reportedly moved in after Whiting’s father left the address.

Whiting, now 55, is in Wakefield prison where he was imprisoned after murdering eight-year-old Sarah Payne in 2000.
