Sarah takes ontough challengefor good causes

The Warrior Run event is billed as the toughest obstacle run in the south.

Testing strength, stamina, agility and mental determination, the Warrior Run is a 6km course at QLeisure in West Sussex with over 20 obstacles to negotiate including, amongst many others), 8ft walls, cargo nets, tunnels, trenches, mud crawls, ladders, rope climbs and monkey bars.

Sarah was taking part to raise funds for two local charities, St Michael’s Hospice and Pett Level Rescue, when she joined over 600 people at the event on Sunday April 28.

Sarah said “It was an absolutely fantastic day. Thankfully the weather couldn’t have been better to complete a really challenging course to raise money for two fantastic local charities.”

She added: “I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who sponsored me.

“I am a long supporter of the staff and volunteers of St Michaels Hospice and Pett Level Rescue, all of whom provide services that are vital for the wellbeing of our community.

“ I am very proud to have been able to present over £300 between St Michaels Hospice and Pett level Rescue.”

Pett Level Rescue Boat is run by a team of trained volunteers ranging in age from teens to those in their eighties.

It plays an important role in keeping people safe along the Rye Bay coast line and often provides vital back-up to the RNLI lifeboats at Rye Harbour and Hastings.

The charity is entirely self-funded, receiving no money from the RNLI and relies on charity events and donations to keep going.

Last year the charity saw a massive fund raising effort providing a new boat-house which is able to house a modern boat tractor.

Pett Rescue gets involved searching for missing people, cliff rescues, vessels in distress, walkers cut off by the tide and rescuing swimmers.
