Say "cheese" for Smile Week

A BALLOON launch, pupils teaching parents, healthy lunch boxes and a reading café have been helping to put the smile on the faces of children at Shoreham and Southwick schools during Smile Week.

The Smile event aims to get schools in the area working together to promote young people in a positive way and increase their capacity to learn.

The campaign was launched on Monday with a leaflet hand-out at the Holmbush Centre, Shore-ham. The initiative has been backed by Sue Palmer, a national literacy consultant, who spoke at King's Manor Community College on Tuesday about her book Toxic Childhood, about the damage the fast pace of life does to children.
