Inspired by the Tower of London poppy installation, year seven students at Broadwater CofE Middle School created their own poppies made from clay, which will be planted in the school’s prayer garden tomorrow.

Head of year seven Jo Eccles said: “It’s really moved a lot of the children. I think it’s brought history alive for them.”

Downsbrook Middle School’s art club adorned a cross with handmade poppies which was placed outside Broadwater Baptist Church.

Nearly 1,000 students and staff at Thomas A Becket Middle School each made a poppy to create a memorial garden.

Year six teacher Donald Vass said it was a ‘really poignant’ display.
