Security guard's death in Iraq was murder

THE family of David Vine, a security guard killed in Iraq, have expressed relief after a coroner this afternoon (Tuesday) ruled he was murdered.

Mr Vine, 28, of Parkside, Seaford, died in October 2006. Four Iraqi people also died in the explosion north of Basra.

A roadside bomb hit a lorry and that vehicle landed on the truck Mr Vine was travelling in.

His mother Rachel Sellence told the Express after the inquest: 'It was murder. There is no doubt about that. He was just trying to help the country and this is what he got.

'I just miss him so much.'

Coroner alan Craze recorded the verdict of unlawful killing and commended Mr Vine's bravery at a hearing at Eastbourne.

Christopher Beese, chief administrative officer for Amorgroup, which employed Mr Vine, told the inquest: 'This was possibly the most difficult period during the Iraq process in terms of attacks. They were increasing at the time.'
